Young Writers’ Workshop

Saturday March 28

C. Lee McKenzieAges 8 through 13.  Los Gatos Adult Recreation Center, 208 East Main St.,  in the large hall from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Space is limited, and registration is required.

Students will learn how to develop plot and characters to build a story. Los Gatan C. Lee McKenzie, published author of fiction for young readers, will open the world of character creation and plot-story development to new and repeat workshop participants. Lee, a native Californian, wrote her first popular young adult novel, Sliding on the Edge, in 2009, a fictionalized account that offers insights into the emotional and psychological growing pains of teens; in 2010 The Princess of Las Pulgas (Princess of the Fleas) was published. Her current young-adult releases are Double Negative and Sudden Secrets. Alligators Overhead was her first middle-grade story and is soon to have a sequel, The Great Time Lock Disaster.

Young workshop participants quickly find that writing is an exhilarating experience, as their imaginations take hold and they learn there are exciting stories in their heads.

Workshop registration forms are available at the library or by calling (408) 356-5735. A completed registration form and check for $15 payable to Friends of Los Gatos Library, should be mailed or delivered to Friends of Los Gatos Library, 100 Villa Ave, Los Gatos 95030.
