Friends Bookstore Open Through October
Renovation on the Civic Center plaza has started, but the Friends of Los Gatos Library Bookstore plans to remain open through Friday, Oct. 31. So come shop during October, and help us reduce our inventory. After that, the bookstore will close temporarily while its building is under construction. During our closure, we hope to run periodic sales. Check this space for updates.

On April 10-11th, we celebrated National Poetry Month with a marathon reading of the epic Anglo-Saxon poem “Beowulf”. We were joined by Los Gatos Poet Laureate Erica Goss, the Friends, and other town luminaries as we read OUT LOUD!
“Beowulf” is the oldest surviving epic poem of Old English, and also the earliest vernacular English literature. Written by an unknown poet in England between the 8th and 11th centuries, this epic poem is set in Scandinavia and describes the heroic acts of Beowulf, who came to the aid of the Danes to battle the terrible monster Grendel.
